The Sector Guard helps her leave her home for a life in the stars, helping more than the wealthy. She agrees to an assignment she cannot remember and soon finds herself in the clutches of Raiders, taking pain from victims of experimentation and wondering how she is going to find the freedom promised her when all hell breaks loose and she leads the charge.

A very intense read if you ask me. The story is one of a serious nature and the fact that some joy can come of it is amazing. This story had my emotions all over the place and that is a good thing in such a short novella. Pain isn't always a bad thing for to feel pain lets us know we are alive and this book puts that in perspective for the characters involved. The more I hear of the talents of Resicor being abused by either their own government or the Raiders they are sold to make me want to put an end to them, soon. I liked this book and the characters are very well developed. It is a more serious read though but written well.Product details

The Duty of Pain Tales of the Citadel Book 13 eBook Viola Grace Reviews
Great story line and wonderful character. I am addicted to these stories. And they are just right for a quick read.
I loved the H/H in this book. One of her best. You could feel the emotion in this book from page one. So buy an enjoy.
I always order this authors books. They keep me entertained without the gore and in your face violence of other writers. I would prefer a little less erotica.
I have to agree with the first reviewer. You CAN feel the emotion in the first pages of this book. I though she did a nice job of rounding out her characters for a short also. Her books are short but very entertaining. One of the things I appreciate about V. Grace is that she appears to have an editor. If she does the editing herself then much thanks. SO many of the short stories I have read (and returned) lately have so many typing errors, run on sentences, and dollar signs for quotation citations, that they are impossible to read. I also like that Ms Grace has been writting long enough that she can tell the story of a variety of heroines and heros instead of following the plan sent from who the heck knows. SO back to this book I found the premise origional and the personalities very entertaining. Keep up the writting Ms. Grace and I will keep reading.
Very good reading with depths in the plot that really showed the talent of the author. I enjoyed reading this book but was made to think about how pain can shape a relationship.
First Viola Grace book I couldn't give five stars. A character with five different eye colors, five different names and five different personalities, not always differentiated, was difficult to follow.
